The Kawai Kanjiro Memorial Museum in Higashiyama Ward is a memorial museum that opens the residence and workshop of ceramic artist Kawai Kanjiro to the public.
It is said that he personally handled everything from the building’s design to the furnishings.
Numerous works by the multi-talented Kanjiro are displayed, including not only ceramics but also sculptures, designs, calligraphy, poetry, lyrics, and essays.
The climbing kiln is also open for viewing.
